Astrology is the study of light.
Light is sacred to every culture.
Ology means the study of and Aster means star which is another way of saying light.
Each culture and Religion hold light sacred and they all have rituals and other ways of acknowledging the pivotal role of light to the creation and continuation of all life.
We now know from modern research in Quantum Physics that light, like sound, travels in waves and impacts all living things.
Light carries and delivers information.
In this sense you could say that the stars talk to us because celestial light is a universal form of communication or language. That is why I call this site StarTalk. In other words the stars talk to us and we can learn to understand the language of light and this is called Astrology.
The wave forms in light change from moment to moment and place to place and that is why each person and each event has its own energetic imprint which we refer to as an Astrological chart.

Astrology, Psychology and Medicine
From ancient times until the past few centuries Astrology was used by Physicians in order to better assess and understand biological rhythms and recommend beneficial treatments. Hippocrates, Galen and many other classical Physicians were Astrologers.
In China this was true as well; Astrology is one of the branches of ancient Chinese Medicine. Even now the School of Astro Medicine is the name of the Medical College that trains Tibetan Physicians in India.
Dr. Carl Jung, the founder of Analytic Psychology used the Astrological chart to help his clients understand their inner and outer lives.
